Just a short jog behind Van Andel Arena lies the light brick building that houses one of GR's finest presenters of Mediterranean fare - Bistro Bella Vita. Start with a Sour Apple Martini, or one of 60 other recipes. Flash-fried Calimari and Carpaccio (rare beef tenderloin) highlight the appetizer menu. Apples, baby lettuce and pistachios wrapped in procuitto make a unique and excellent salad. Entrees range from paella made of shrimp and mussels to grilled duck breast over ginger-scented rice. Throw in a classic past like ravioli or fettucine and you can see why this is one GR's best restaurants. Finish with Creme Brulee or Tiramisu or relax with a cognac or cordial in the comfortable atmosphere. The patio is open when weather permits. $$$/$$$$
